17th – 21st September The Lord Bagenal Inn,
Leighlinbridge, Co. Carlow, Ireland. |

The 2008 Clann Chaomhánach Gathering will be held at the
Lord Bagenal Inn,
Leighlinbridge, County Carlow, this year. The Gathering Program will
include tours, lectures, genealogy consultations and a couple of new
features we hope everyone will enjoy. A copy of the Program is included
here for you information. 2008 will be the first time that the Clann has
combined our Gathering activities and accommodations at the same venue and
the extra convenience will be appreciated by everyone.
The Gathering this year will add two new activities which should be a
lot of fun. Members who can sing, play an instrument or have any
entertaining talent will be spotlighted during our evening receptions and
a storytelling competition will be held with prizes for the best stories.
Stories don’t need to be original, but there will be a special prize for
the best original composition. Although the official activities will end
Saturday evening, on Sunday morning we will have informal socializing and
talks for those who are still there.
The beautiful family owned Lord Bagenal Inn has recently undergone an
extensive expansion to 39 luxury rooms, with a new restaurant and activity
rooms. A special and very attractive rate for 4 days of the Gathering has
been negotiated for the Lord Bagenal Inn at €225 including breakfasts. If
you plan to stay in the Lord Bagenal Inn, the number of rooms is limited
and you should book early by contacting Jim Cavanaugh at: junglejim@btl.net
. Fergus will look after the Registrations as always, and Jim will take
care of the accommodations for everyone. In addition to the Lord Bagenal,
there are a number of self-catering apartments (condos) available within
easy walking distance as well as many nice B&Bs within 5 minutes drive.
The condos rent for around €500-550 per week starting on Sundays, and B&Bs
are €35-60 per person per night. Leighlinbridge is a beautiful
award-winning village with delightful walks along the banks of the River
Barrow. The remains of historic Black Castle where many K/Cavanaghs lived
and some were hung, is only a block away from the Inn. The food at the
Lord Bagenal Inn is exceptional and the pub is comfortable, friendly and
very welcoming. The staff of the lord Bagenal is very accommodating if you
have any special needs. There will be a late fee charge for Registrations
posted after July 15th, so you are encouraged to make your plans early.
We all look forward to seeing you in September - Clann
