Clann Gathering Report 2002

We formed another procession and followed the new chief to the nearby grave of Diamuid mac Murchada and Domhnal Caomhánach. There the Clann Herald laid an evergreen wreath in honour of these ancestors who were once Kings of Leinster and from whom all our families descend. Then it was time to take some pictures for the scrapbook. We assembled into a large group and people took it in turns to dart in and out with their cameras for a photograph. When everyone had a memento to take home we broke into small groups and headed to the pub for, what else, but a celebratory drink. Some drifted off to change for the banquet to come later while others, myself included stayed in the pub for a chat and drink or three. I found Bridget Kavanagh Dalton and Melissa Cavanaugh in a quiet corner and spend a pleasant hour or so in their company.
